We recently made our way to the Memphis Zoo for the Lantern Festival, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The lights were stunning, the music made everything feel immersive, and there was something to look at around every corner. It was not cold at all, which made walking and wandering so enjoyable, especially with kids.

Here is my warning: They may say you can buy tickets that day but buy them in advance!!! Two of our party did not and by some miracle the ticket seller “found” two to sell to them. Maybe he was hoarding them in his back pocket? Idk, I just know there was a very long line at that counter and probably a lot of disappointed people.

We did end up rushing more than we wanted because a couple of our guests were hungry and cranky, which honestly just happens. Next time, we would definitely eat beforehand and plan to arrive about half an hour to an hour after opening, then stay until closing (to avoid waiting in entry lines). There is so much to enjoy, and this feels like one of those experiences that is best savored slowly.

One thing we did not do but absolutely should have was the zipline or air carrier thing. At only ten dollars, it felt like a total steal, especially when compared to what they were charging for a single s’more kit. In hindsight, we chose poorly. There is always next time. lol

This time, I did not forget the Tushbaby, and that alone deserves a moment of appreciation. Ten out of ten decision. Comfortable, practical, and an absolute game changer for an event like this.

After the zoo, we headed to Flame Ramen, which was the perfect way to end the night. Warm food, cozy vibes, and exactly what we needed after a long evening of lights and walking. It hit the spot.

Overall, we loved this experience and would absolutely do it again, just with a slightly better plan, fuller bellies, and maybe fewer overpriced s’mores and more ziplining.

P.S. The photos from this night are not exactly portfolio worthy (Again!). I was in full mom mode, moving fast and juggling people, snacks, and a toddler, not thinking like a blogger or photographer. It happens.

P.P.S. If you ever see me linking toddler gear, it is because I have used it in real life situations like this one and found it genuinely helpful. I am an Amazon affiliate, and I only share products that make getting out of the house with kids a little easier.
