Cooking up adventures
Arrival Day
Like all great adventures, ours began with a minor detour—our Uber dropped us at the wrong hotel. So, there we were, hauling our bags down the street, living out our best “Amazing Race” moment. #facepalm.
Once we finally arrived at the correct hotel, we unpacked, showered, and got ready for our first night in paradise. Dinner was at Goofy’s Café and Diner, and let me tell you—it was FANTASTIC. I had fresh juice, the BEST French toast with fresh fruit, and a side of Kula pork (because balance). Patrick went for Loco Moco, staying true to the local flavors.
Post-dinner, we walked to our escape room, which was located in a little mall. It wasn’t too far from our hotel, but in true fashion, we accidentally took the scenic route (read: we got lost). The game, Gold Rush at The Escape Game Honolulu in the Ala Moana shopping center, was awesome. No spoilers, but let’s just say—it had more than one room 😉.

Departure Day
Departure day was bittersweet—we didn’t want to leave, but reality was calling. We packed up, grabbed an Uber to the airport, and said goodbye to paradise (sigh). Security took way longer here than in Dallas, so thankfully, we were 1.5 hours early.
We treated ourselves to first-class seats on the way home (because deal hunting is a skill), which meant extra space and meals—though, to be honest, most of the food was not it.
After landing in Dallas, we faced our final test: the never-again drive home. Lesson learned—saving money by flying out of a faraway airport isn’t worth the exhaustion.
Finally, back in MS, we were beyond excited to see our animals and, most importantly, our little man. 💙
